Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is specialized "hands on" treatment that may include joint mobilization for the spine (or for the shoulder, hip, foot/ankle, etc.), along with deep tissue massage and/or myofascial release. Joint mobilizations help to stretch the joint capsule, to decrease pain, and improve joint range of motion and function.

Recent research advocates the use of manual physical therapy for the best therapeutic outcomes, along with a customized exercise program to help you maintain benefits gained during therapy.

Manual Therapy may enhance treatment for the following spinal dysfunctions:

  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Bulging or Herniated Disc
  • Arthritis
  • Whiplash, Trauma/Injury
  • Muscle strain
  • Scoliosis
  • Nerve irritation (i.e. sciatica, radiculopathy)
  • Sacroiliac joint pain (pelvic pain)
  • Headaches
  • Neck Pain
